A recent article in the Napa Valley Register decrying the shortage of primary care physicians in California explores the reasons with several prominent area doctors, including Specialdocs physician-client Paul Sweigert, MD.  His transition to a concierge model in 2009, enabling him to treat several hundred patients rather than 1,800, was a career saving move, according to the Register. With more time to see patients and continue to follow them if they are hospitalized, personalized healthcare has enabled him to practice medicine the way he was trained, he said. If he hadn’t made the change, “I probably wouldn’t be in medicine today.”
